Crawford has a robust internship program that offers the opportunity to gain hands-on, agency experience in Communications, Marketing, Creative Design, and Public Relations. Our internship program serves dual purposes.  First, we hope to help the interns learn about the industry, and for them to gain knowledge of professional and life skills that are applicable in the real world.  Second, Crawford’s internship program helps our team to build a pipeline of strong candidates for potential employment opportunities.

We are seeking public relations, account services, graphic, and social media interns to support our team. Applicants should have a positive attitude, as well as a strong sense of self-motivation with a desire to achieve and exceed expectations.

Requirements

  • Majoring in marketing, public relations, communications, graphic design, or related field
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of organization
  • Excellent communications and writing skills
  • Strong work ethic and “can do” attitude
  • High competency level of computer and software skills compatible with job responsibilities, especially proficient in Microsoft office tools and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate to team members of all levels in the agency
  • Ability to manage time efficiently while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment on multiple projects

Length of Internships

Internships are offered year-round. The duration for internships that receive college credit is one semester. Other internships typically last 12 to 16 weeks, as mutually agreed upon. Hours per week are determined on a case-by-case basis. Internships will not exceed 40 hours per week. Internship program times typically run as follows:

  • Now Open: Fall 2024 In- Person Internships – August – December | Deadline to Apply July 1 / Spaces Full.
  • Now Open: Spring 2025 In- Person Internships – January – April | Deadline to Apply Oct 1st / Spaces Full.
  • Now Open: Summer 2025 In- Person Internships – May – August | Deadline to Apply Feb 1st / Spaces Full.

Compensation/Credit

    All internships are paid. If there is an opportunity to earn academic credit, we will work with colleges and universities to structure the internship accordingly.

Experience with the following preferred, but not required

  • Social Media Management platforms, such as Sprout Social or Hootsuite
  • Simple graphic-creation tools like Canva and SparkPost
  • Google Analytics
  • Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn Ads Managers
  • Adobe Creative Suite

Internship Duties & Responsibilities

ACCOUNT SERVICES INTERN
Candidates must have strong writing skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and use sound judgment.

  • Provide daily administrative, general office duties and on-site support for various client projects and events
  • Perform extensive market research for client projects and industries
  • Assist with the development of marketing strategies and techniques and assist in executing marketing campaigns
  • Support the strategic efforts of marketing clients
  • Maintain job tracking documents to ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner
  • Proofread and improve written work product
  • As requested, take minutes and notes at meetings, prepare, and distribute contact reports, etc.
  • Contribute to first stages of creative brief development
  • Represent agency with a professional demeanor

PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN
The public relations intern will primarily work with the public relations team to support their goal of earning media coverage and publicity for clients through a variety of means. Candidates for this internship should have an interest in following and interacting with news media.

  • Provide daily administrative, general office duties and on-site support for various client projects and events
  • As requested, take minutes and notes at meetings
  • Develop and update media lists and other databases
  • Draft and edit press materials, including press releases, media advisories, and pitches
  • Research target audiences and media outlets
  • Monitor media using Google News and Cision
  • Track media placements in coverage tracker and create client clipbooks

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
The social media intern will primarily work with the social media and content creation team to support their goal of crafting and posting copy for a wide range of clientele within brand standards, engaging with users via separate social media accounts, and reporting on campaign performance.

  • Provide daily administrative, general office duties and on-site support for various client projects and events
  • As requested, take minutes and notes at meetings
  • Assist in social media management across all social media platforms, including content creation, page monitoring, and market research
  • Engage with social communities
  • Review social performance using analytics tools
  • Serve as our go-to for creating in-the-moment content for agency platforms
  • Research current social trends to ensure optimal campaign performance
  • Collaborate with internal teams to highlight work and capabilities

GRAPHIC AND PRODUCTION INTERN
The graphic and production intern will work closely with the creative team, specifically art directors/designers and producer.

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Understanding of how to prepare press files (for design and production purposes)
  • Design/layout of assigned projects and ability to adhere to client brand guidelines
  • Makes edits as needed
  • Reviews proofs as needed
  • Works with producer to secure production quotes to vendors and provide estimates to account services team
  • Understanding of print production, video production, and photography is a plus
  • Comfortable in fast-paced environment
  • Able to juggle multiple projects / meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented

DIGITAL MEDIA INTERN
The Digital Media Intern will work primarily with the Media Department to aid in the development of paid media strategies for clients and assist with monitoring digital ad campaigns.

Please note this position is not focused on social media content development, growing organic followers or working with influencers, though you may have opportunities to engage with the organic social team.

Responsibilities of the Digital Media Intern may consist of the following, as needed:

  •  Assisting with monitoring campaign spend
  • Analyzing campaign data to Identify trends and patterns
  • Communicating with vendors to request quotes, media kits and confirm inventory availability 
  •  Updating spreadsheets to adjust campaign timelines and budgets
  • Assisting in digital campaign launches
  • Pulling Analytics and campaign data for reporting
  • Researching new ad platforms or software
  • Taking notes during campaign planning and strategy meetings

All duties will be performed under the supervision of a senior member of the media team.

Prior experience with Google Analytics and/or running paid ads in Google Ads, Meta (formerly Facebook), or Linked-In is a plus. A strong desire to learn more about the world of paid digital media advertising is a must.
